7 Best Country Pub Campsites nr Bristol

Don’t we all love long winter walks in the country which end wth a nice pint in a cosy pub, sitting by a lovely log fire? But the only draw back is the driver can’t drink and you have to leave just as the locals are settling in for the evening. We totally agree, but we have recently made an amazing discovery. Country pub campsites, which are open through out the winter.

Could a VW California camper hire and country pub campsites be the perfect winter weekend experience?

A country pub with a campsite, in a stunning location with great walking and cycling potential. What a great idea. But it is winter when the country pub really comes into its own. After a day spent discovering the local area, there is nothing better than spending the evening in the warm friendly atmosphere of a local country pub. An open fire, a nice pint and  a home cooked meal on its way.

Safe in the knowledge that your comfortable bed is waiting for you just outside in the pub campsite.

When you hire a VW California from Sun Kissed Campers will even give you the remote control to the heater thermostat so you can get your camper toasty warm before you leave the fire side!

Our fleet of luxury VW California camper vans are designed to handle all types of extreme weather, so our typical British winter is no problem. All have rear double glazing, independent heating, off grid electrics as standard. During the winter we add in a couple of hand picked sheepskin rugs, a double duvet & pillows bed linen set, an over coat for the pop up roof and a thermal wrap for the cab windows.

We have compiled a list of our 7 favourite country pub campsites within easy reach of our base. Bristol and Bath are amazing cities to start a romantic winter weekend and are well served by airport, mainline rail and motorways. Once you have collected your camper van hire for the weekend all you need do is choose a destination. North, South, East or West. We have found choice pub campsites in every direction!

We have stuck with in an 80 mile radius of our base on the western edge of Bath, so the maximum  you can expect to drive is just about two hours. This takes us from the waterfalls of the Brecon Beacons in South Wales to the calm delights of the Oxfordshire Cotswolds.

Our criteria for pub campsites to make the shortlist is simple. They must have 24 hour access to toilets and fresh water, but many have hot showers and electric hook up should you desire it. Our campers are fine touring off grid. The pub really must have a log fire and home cooked food.
